guy & bi curlHow to build muscle is not an easy task. There are several factors involved. First is finding the right balance of increased calories but not too many that the body won’t use and store as fat. That is a trial and error period which takes time after you find out what is your daily weight maintenance calorie number.

You can work on Progressive Overload. This requires you to add increments of additional weight. This takes time as you wait for the muscles begin to strengthen. If you push up your weight too quickly than you risk injury if the muscles aren’t ready to progress.

Genetics is a huge factor when you are building muscle. If you are genetically dispositioned not to have big muscles, chances are they will only enlarge to what your body is genetically capable. This can be quite frustrating for some.

Finally, rest and recovery for a full 24 hours so your muscles have time to repair themselves. If you don’t allow recovery time for the muscle it will begin to breakdown and the opposite will happen.

Watching your diet, drink plenty of water, get plenty of rest and work with the progressive overload routine and you should begin to build muscle!
